Salata Tomatim Bel Daqua (Sudanese Tomato Salad)

salata tomatim bel daqua (2 of 5)

Salata Tomatim Bel Daqua is a Tomato salad from the world’s newest country, South Sudan. South Sudan seceded from Sudan on July 9th, 2011. Compared to the North, South Sudan cuisine has less of a Middle Eastern influence. Peanuts make their way into many dishes, like this salad. Salata Tomatim Bel Daqua is made from tossing together tomatoes, green onions, parsley, and green chili pepper. It is then coated in a peanut butter lime sauce.

Evan pleasantly surprised me by devouring this salad. It must have been the peanut butter coating. He usually isn’t as crazy about tomatoes. I loved the salad and how quickly it came together. Chad said it was just alright. He also isn’t a huge fan of raw tomatoes. Poor guy doesn’t know what he is missing. Fresh tomatoes are one of my favorite things about summer.salata tomatim bel daqua (1 of 5)
