A recipe for a Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie! This refreshing smoothie is perfect for summer with a blend of watermelon, strawberry, and lime.

Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie in a glass with lime slice, strawberry half, and mint sprig.

This Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie is such a great use for leftover watermelon and comes together in minutes with only a handful of ingredients.

Simply blend together chopped watermelon, frozen strawberries, lime juice and zest, and ice cubes until everything is combined and smooth.

If desired, garnish the glasses with lime slices, fresh strawberries, fresh mint or basil sprigs, and/or watermelon wedges.

Serve the Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie immediately after blending. The ingredients will start to separate and the ice will melt the longer the drink sits.

A Few Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie Tips

This recipe is best made with ripe watermelon at peak season. I used 600 grams (21 ounces) fresh watermelon- about 4 cups when chopped.

If using a watermelon with black seeds, remove and discard the seeds before adding the chopped watermelon to the blender.

If you want a completely smooth drink without any of the little yellow/white watermelon seeds, blend the watermelon first and pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl. Use a spoon to scrape and press the mixture in the strainer to help release as much liquid as possible.

I generally don’t add sugar since the fresh watermelon and frozen strawberries add a light sweetness to the drink. If desired, add a spoonful or so of honey or granulated sugar to the blender to taste.

Adjust the amount of ice as desired. One cup (150 grams) will create a thinner drink with a light, refreshing flavor. Two cups (300 grams) will make the smoothie more thick and frosty.

If you don’t have limes available, you can swap for the zest of 1 lemon and a couple tablespoons of fresh lemon juice.

Sometimes, I like to use a small star cookie cutter to cut thin slices of watermelon into stars to add a little decoration to the garnish.
